No Heat Right Now?

Call 859-324-2770. That is the fastest thing on this page. While you wait, here is what to do and what to leave alone.

What to check yourself
Is the thermostat set to heat and above the room temperature
Has the breaker tripped
Is the furnace switch on, it looks like a light switch near the unit
Is the filter completely blocked
What to leave alone
Do not reset the system repeatedly. If it locks out twice, it is telling you something.
Do not relight a pilot if you smell gas. Leave the house and call the gas company first.
Do not run space heaters unattended or on extension cords.

Tonight

The system is not producing. In freezing weather that is a call tonight, not tomorrow.

Safety check on ignition, heat exchanger, and venting

This is the part that matters most in heating. A cracked heat exchanger is not a comfort problem, it is a carbon monoxide problem.

Common repairs

The Repairs We Make Most

Most winter calls in Central Kentucky come down to a short list. They split by what you have.

Two Systems, Two Sets of Problems

Central Kentucky runs both, and they fail differently. Knowing which you have changes what we check first.

Furnace

Gas burning, so the safety checks matter most: ignition, heat exchanger, venting. When a furnace fails it usually fails completely, and the house cools fast.

Heat pump systems serviced in Central Kentucky.
Heat pump

Runs on refrigerant like an air conditioner in reverse. Fails more gradually, and often shows up as a house that never quite reaches temperature rather than a system that stops.

Both get the same diagnostic and the same written price. Neither gets guessed at.

Questions

What People Ask When the Heat Goes Out

Answered plainly, because nobody wants to read a brochure at midnight.

Ask us anything else, 859-324-2770
01

My heat went out at night. Will you actually come?

Yes. We are dispatched around the clock, six days a week. Call 859-324-2770 and we will tell you honestly when we can be there.

02

How much does a heating repair cost?

Our diagnostic is $XX and it comes off the total if you go ahead with the repair. You know the fee before we come out and the repair price before we start.

03

Why does my furnace keep shutting off after a few minutes?

Short cycling. Common causes are a blocked filter, a dirty flame sensor, restricted airflow, or a system that was oversized for the house. It takes a diagnostic to know which.

04

My heat pump is blowing cool air. Is it broken?

Not necessarily. Heat pumps deliver cooler air than a furnace and run defrost cycles in cold weather. If the house is not holding temperature, that is worth a call.

Is it safe to keep running it until you arrive?

If you smell gas, no. Leave the house and call the gas company first. If it is banging, screeching, or smells like burning, shut it off. Otherwise, keeping the house warm until we get there is fine.

06

Do you repair systems you did not install?

Yes. We service whatever is already in your home or building.

07

Do you work on residential heating?

Yes. Rooftop units, packaged systems, and full mechanical systems across Central Kentucky.
